LHSHL ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH AND MOE’S SOUTHWEST GRILL GOALIE OF THE MONTH
TAMPA BAY – The Lightning High School Hockey League (LHSHL) today named senior forward Tyler Walkinshaw the league’s November Honda Player of the Month and junior goalie Bryan Meyers the league’s Moe’s Southwest Grill Goalie of the Month. Both athletes play for the Newsome Wolves, who went 2-2 in November, beating Jenkins and Wiregrass, while losing to Manatee and Mitchell.
In Newsome’s 10-0 victory over Jenkins, Walkinshaw registered three goals and five assists. He put up three more goals and three assists in the Wolves win against Wiregrass, finishing the month with a total of 14 points.
Meyers is receiving the honor after posting two wins, including a shutout over Jenkins and a one-goal against effort against Wiregrass. He made 50 saves on 60 shots faced and finished November with a 3.33 GAA.
Both Walkinshaw and Meyers play travel hockey for the Gulf Coast Flames. Walkinshaw plays for the U18 AAA team out of Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex under Freddie Eaton while Meyers is coached by former Lightning player and first round pick Nikita Alexeev on the U16 AA team. On top of their outstanding play in the LHSHL and travel tournaments, each earned a 3.66 GPA in November.
Both players will receive a personal replica trophy to recognize their accomplishments, along with their names engraved on the permanent awards to be displayed throughout the season at Amalie Arena.
