
LHSHL ANNOUNCES JANUARY HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH, MOE’S SOUTHWEST GRILL GOALIE OF THE MONTH
TAMPA BAY – The Lightning High School Hockey League (LHSHL) today named George Jenkins captain and defenseman Carter Clay the league’s Honda Player of the Month for January and Jesuit goalie Sean Lanoue the league’s Moe’s Southwest Grill Goalie of the Month.
Clay recorded eight goals and four assists for a total of 12 points in January, helping his team clinch a playoff spot with a 3-3 record during the month. In Jenkins’ victory over Wharton on January 29, Clay put on a six-point performance with two goals and four assists. Overall this regular season, he notched 16 goals and put up 26 points in 21 games played. Along with his efforts on the ice, Clay is a junior at the Central Florida Aerospace Academy training to get his pilot’s license and earned a 2.85 un-weighted GPA in January with two AP classes and three honors classes.
Lanoue is receiving the honor after recording a perfect 3-0 record in January, allowing only three total goals against. He notched an assist on January 29 in Jesuit’s 9-0 win over Wiregrass, which led the Tigers to first place in their division, giving them a first-round playoff bye. Lanoue dressed in 19 of Jesuit’s 22 games and saw ice time in 12 of them. On top of his outstanding play in the LHSHL last month, he received a 3.0 un-weighted GPA while taking three AP classes and one honors class and is also an All-County golfer for Jesuit.
Both players will receive a personal replica trophy to recognize their accomplishments, along with their names engraved on the permanent awards to be displayed throughout the season at Amalie Arena.
