LHSHL ANNOUNCES OCTOBER HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH
TAMPA BAY – The Lightning High School Hockey League (LHSHL) today named forward Lucas Sowder, No. 11 for the Mitchell Mustangs, the league’s October Honda Player of the Month.
Sowder, the league’s current points leader with 39, is receiving this honor after helping lead the Mustangs to a perfect 4-0 record in October with wins over Countryside, Berkley, Palm Harbor, and Seminole. He finished the month with a total of 29 points, recording seventeen goals, including two power play goals and two game-winning goals. Along with his outstanding play in the LHSHL, Sowder managed to receive a 3.6 GPA for the month.
Sowder was a member of the Mitchell team that won the Lightning Conference Cup in 2014, and won a USA Hockey National Championship with the U-16 Tampa Scorpions Midget team in 2015 after beating the Affton Americans of Missouri 3-1.
Sowder will receive a personal replica of the LHSHL Honda Player of the Month award, and will have his name permanently engraved on the LHSHL Honda Player of the Month award to be displayed throughout the season at Amalie Arena.
