The Lightning High School Hockey League (LHSHL) today named Jenkins Sophomore JAKE RICHARD as the league’s Honda Player of the Month for December. Additionally, the league announced Plant Freshmen, JERRY TARKIAINEN as the Honda Goalie of the Month.

Richard scored 6 goals and had 3 assists for 9 points in two games in the month of December. His efforts this past month have secured Jenkins a first-round bye in the upcoming Lightning Cup playoffs this month. Richard is also the leading pointer scorer in the LHSHL with 43.

Tarkiainen and Plant went 2-0-1 in the month of December. Tarkiainen saw 51 shots and made 46 saves for a .901 SV% on the month. He and Plant are in a playoff position heading into the final weeks of the season.

Richard and Tarkiainen will each receive a personal trophy to recognize their accomplishments, along with their names engraved on the permanent award that will be given to both the  Honda Player of the Year and Goalie of the Year at the end of the season.
