Happy Holidays Folks

Nothing screams holiday spirit more than one last Senior Spotlight before the turn of the new year. This week we have, Jesuit’s Owen Forrest. As of today, the Tigers sit in second place in the Andreychuk Division and in a playoff position. So far this season, Owen is Jesuits leading goal and point-getter. With a stat line of 13 goals, 3 assists, 3 powerplay goals, 1 shorty, and 1 game-winning goal. He averages EXACTLY 1 point-per-game.

"I was born in Tampa, Florida. I’ve lived here all my life. Right now, I live in Westchase and I attend as well as play hockey for the Jesuit Tigers. I can't remember if it was at TBSA or CIA, but I do know that I first started skating at age 3. As far a playing, I started out in house leagues when I was about four or five and then I played for the Tampa Bay Junior Lightning. Then I played for the Titans for one year and then I played for the Tampa 2002s. I’ve played for the Scorpions, the Flames, a bunch of teams. This season marks my fourth and sadly, last year in the LHSHL. It was kind of intimidating when I first got here as a freshman but now since I’m a senior it’s a way different vibe. The league has improved a lot since I started. It’s way more competitive, there’s a lot of hype about the Lightning Cup and States so it’s pretty fun.

My past three years of me being in the league we came up short all three years we’ve lost in the semifinals. We lost to Wiregrass my freshman year and then we lost to Manatee two times in a row in the semis. We really need to just buckle it down and when it comes time just put in the full effort as much as we can. Just make sure that we’re ready for the game, but we’re going to win it this year. Trust me. Also, it always a good thing when you two Stanley Cup champions coaching your team.

For school, my favorite classes are probably math. I’m pretty good at math. I’m in AP for math. Just in any class overall, I find it interesting. The all-boys school I mean, obviously it kind of sucks because there are no girls but then again it gets pretty fun because we just joke around and we just have a lot of fun at Jesuit. I don’t really know yet what college I’m going to yet next year. I’ve applied to FSU, UCF, Ole Miss, and so I don’t really know if I’m going to play hockey in college but if I go to UCF I probably will because I know a couple of kids on the team. Anywhere else I don’t know if I’m going to play. Probably just run it up in men’s league. Since I’m pretty good at math, I’ll probably select a major related to mathematics. My brother goes to the University of Tampa and is studying business finance. I might follow in the same footsteps. I’m a big fan of forensic criminology too. We’ll see.

In my free time, when I’m not playing hockey or at school. I go to the gym every day. I get home from school and I go to the gym and then I just play 2K. I get my homework done and then I got the whole night to play 2K with my friends during the week and then on the weekends I’m always out with my friends, always outside doing stuff.”

From the Tampa Bay Lightning and LHSHL, have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!
