HONDA PLAYER AND CHEERIOS GOALIE OF THE MONTH: 

The Lightning High School Hockey League (LHSHL) today named West Manatee Sophomore Kirill Shpak as the league’s Honda Player of the Month for September. Additionally, the league announced East Manatee Senior, Alex Workman as the Cheerios Goalie of the Month.

Shpak scored 10 goals and 3 assists –13 points in six games for West Manatee that helped them go 6-0 in the month for the first time in the program’s history. Shpak averaged 2.17 points-per-game in the month of September. His team sits in 1st place in the Modin Division.

Workman started and won all five games for East Manatee in September. He made 84 saves on 89 shots, good for a .944 save percentage. Workman and East Manatee are 5-0 and in 2nd place in the Modin Division.

Kirill Shpak and Alex Workman will each receive a personal trophy to recognize their accomplishments, along with their names engraved on the permanent award that will be given to both the Honda Player of the Year and Cheerios Goalie of the Year at the end of the season.
